Leicester Tri Club run open-water sessions here between May and September. There are two per week, Wednesday 18:30-20:30 and Saturday 07:30-09:30. The club don’t charge for sessions but, for insurance purposes, you have to be a member of the club to swim. www.leicestertriathlonclub.co.uk

The lake at Box End Park is open from spring, and has set times for anyone who wants to swim there. A day membership is £4, while a season-long membership is £75. Wetsuits are compulsory. www.boxendpark.com
The Blue Lagooners club run three sessions per week during the summer months, where the exact start and end dates are determined by the temperature of the water.
