Christmas time is here again – but that doesn’t have to mean completely neglecting your triathlon training regime! Leading performance nutritionist Danny Webber from Nutrition X gives us four delicious smoothie recipes packed with health benefits to keep our diets in tact over the festive period…
Black forest gateaux
High in protein and antioxidants – this is a great wintery flavour with a delicious chocolatey taste. Will keep you healthy and solve your sweet tooth craving.
- 300ml milk
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- 1 scoop chocolate Big Whey from Nutrition X
- 1 tbsp 0% Greek yoghurt
Add all ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth
Eggnog
A twist on a traditional festive drink – a healthier alternative to the real thing.
- 1 cup (300ml) unsweetened almond milk
- 1 frozen banana
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Pinch of cinnamon
- ½ freshly squeezed orange
- 2 tbsp 0% Greek yoghurt
Add all ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth.
Dust the top with another pinch of nutmeg.
Chocolate orange
If you don’t get a chocolate orange this Christmas, you’ve got to make one of these!
- 250ml milk
- 1 scoop chocolate Big Whey from Nutrition X
- ½ freshly squeezed orange
- 4-5 ice cubes
Add all ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth.
Gingerbread latte
Another festive favourite which could very easily be served warm and will help you recover properly after training.
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- Pinch of cinnamon
- 200ml milk
- 1 tsp coffee granules in 30ml boiling water (or a shot of espresso)
- Drizzle of honey
- 4-5 ice cubes
Add the milk, ginger, cinnamon, honey & ice to a blender and mix.
Add the coffee and boiling water into a glass and stir then add in the ginger milk mixture.
