Four Christmas smoothie recipes

Christmas time is here again – but that doesn’t have to mean completely neglecting your triathlon training regime! Leading performance nutritionist Danny Webber from Nutrition X gives us four delicious smoothie recipes packed with health benefits to keep our diets in tact over the festive period…


Black forest gateaux

High in protein and antioxidants – this is a great wintery flavour with a delicious chocolatey taste. Will keep you healthy and solve your sweet tooth craving.

  • 300ml milk
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 scoop chocolate Big Whey from Nutrition X
  • 1 tbsp 0% Greek yoghurt

Add all ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth


Eggnog

A twist on a traditional festive drink – a healthier alternative to the real thing.

  • 1 cup (300ml) unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • ½ freshly squeezed orange
  • 2 tbsp 0% Greek yoghurt

Add all ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth.

Dust the top with another pinch of nutmeg.


Chocolate orange


If you don’t get a chocolate orange this Christmas, you’ve got to make one of these!

  • 250ml milk
  • 1 scoop chocolate Big Whey from Nutrition X
  • ½ freshly squeezed orange
  • 4-5 ice cubes

Add all ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth.

Gingerbread latte

Another festive favourite which could very easily be served warm and will help you recover properly after training.

  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • 200ml milk
  • 1 tsp coffee granules in 30ml boiling water (or a shot of espresso)
  • Drizzle of honey
  • 4-5 ice cubes

Add the milk, ginger, cinnamon, honey & ice to a blender and mix.

Add the coffee and boiling water into a glass and stir then add in the ginger milk mixture.
