Winter Triathlon World Champs to start this weekend
Triathletes take on the snow and ice in Cogne, northern Italy
While most of the world’s top winter athletes are in Russia for the 2014 Winter Olympics, a hardy band will be in Cogne, Italy this coming weekend for the Winter Triathlon World Championships.
The elites and under-23s will be tackling a 6km run, 12km mountain bike and 9km ski course, while the junior and paratriathletes will battle over shortened distances of the same course.
Racing will get underway this Saturday (15 February), with the juniors setting off at 9am local time, followed by the elite women at 11am, and then the elite men at 1pm. Age-group, paratriathlon and mixed relay races will be held the following day.
