Sandman, Snowman entries open
Both events expected to sell out fast
Entries are now open for next year’s Sandman and Snowman triathlons in north Wales.
The Sandman will take place on 21 September on Anglesey island, with entries limited to 850 people. Two distances are available: the full distance will be 1km swim/60km bike/10km trail run, while the sprint distance will be 400m/18km/5km.
The Snowman will be taking place on 5 October in Snowdonia and will be a more challenging affair, culminating with a hardcore run up the mountain of Moel Siabod: the full distance will be 750m/69km/9km, while the sprint is 400m/31km/5km.
Event Manager Rob Samuel said: “The Sandman and the Snowman are both fantastic triathlons. They are set in gorgeous locations and the atmosphere at each race is simply electric.
“The Snowman is a tougher course (the run up Moel Siabod is challenging enough on its own!) but the Sandman is no easy ride. The course is undulating which is very tiring and the trail run on Llanddwyn beach always takes it out of the athletes.”
Jane Hansom came away victorious at both events this year, smashing the Sandman course record by 15mins. Oliver Simon won the men’s full-distance Sandman in 2:26:27, while Ewan Brown took gold at Snowman with 3:12:53.
