PTO partners with French Triathlon Federation
The PTO has partnered with the French Triathlon Federation to support the upcoming French National Championships on 6 June
The PTO has decided to team up with the French Triathlon Federation in support of the upcoming French Long Distance National Championships on 6 June, set to take place in Cagnes-Sur-Mer. The two organisations will be joining the main event organiser, TriGames, in contributing towards the professional prize purse, of which the PTO will themselves provide €13,000.
With this new support, the event will now offer points to PTO professional triathletes that will help towards qualifying for the upcoming Collins Cup. The much anticipated inaugural Collins Cup is set to take place on 28 August, 2021, a spin off of golf’s Ryder Cup, this innovative new event will see the top triathletes in the world competing in three teams across a middle-distance multi-race format.
The championship pro race, situated in the stunning Cote d’Azur, will comprise of a 1.9km swim, a 93km bike with an elevation gain of 1740m, taking in the renowned Col de Vence, and finishing with a 20km flat run along the French Riviera seafront. Other events during the weekend of racing will include 2.5km and 5km swims, a relay, and an Olympic-distance triathlon.
Race Director of TriGames, Sylvain Lebret says: “Our team has worked tirelessly to be able to host another event in this climate and provide athletes with an opportunity to race safely. Cagnes-Sur-Mer is a beautiful location and it will be great to see PTO Professionals battle it out to earn qualifying points for The Collins Cup. “
Charles Adamo, Executive Chairman of the PTO echoing these sentiments: “It is an honour to be part of an event that not only puts on display the resilience of those committed to supporting our sport, but also gives our PTO Professionals in Europe the chance to race and earn points towards Collins Cup qualification”.
The PTO is a non-profit organisation that focusses on supporting athletes and offering equal opportunities across gender and nationality, recent successful PTO races include Challenge Daytona.
