Amy Chivers and Holly Pickett take on triathlon for the first time
Amy Chivers and Holly Pickett, two first team players for Oxford United FC’s women’s team, have told 220 Triathlon how much they are looking forward to taking part in this year’s Blenheim Triathlon.
Despite never having done a triathlon before, both players say that they are not too worried about the demands of the event, which they say fits perfectly into their preseason schedule.
“The triathlon falls in line well with our pre-season strength and conditioning training and so it’s been great motivation for me to step up my general fitness and have another goal and challenge to work towards,” said defender Amy.
Team midfielder Holly added: “I’m competing as part of a relay team, taking on the cycle leg alongside my teammate Amy Chivers, who is doing the run. We’re having lots of fun training together and so I’m looking forward to seeing how we do on the day.
“I’m not particularly worried about anything, I’m just really looking forward to it! I know we will have great support from the club and supporters on the day and so that’s really giving me the motivation to give it my best shot on the day and have fun!”
