All the action from the women’s Olympic triathlon in Tokyo in pictures

Another action-packed Olympic race sees the women sprinting round the streets of Tokyo’s Odaiba Park. Unlike the men’s race, lead packs quickly formed and the chase was on with athletes caught and others dropped. Thanks to the stormy and wet conditions, there were crashes galore and an almost-fatal puncture for one of Britain’s podium hopefuls. Catch-up on the action with our race gallery.
