Olympian Jack Buckner wins race to become British Triathlon boss
Veteran of Seoul and Barcelona Olympics for 5000m will arrive from Sport England this August
British Triathlon has named Jack Buckner as its new CEO, taking over from outgoing chief Zara Hyde Peters this August.
Buckner competed in the 5000m at the Seoul and Barcelona Olympic Games, and also won the European Championships over the same distance in 1986 with what remains a Championship record time of 13:10.15.
He worked for Adidas as marketing director before joining Sport England five years ago, where he has been strategic lead in the national governing body team, and most recently led on market development for the organisation.
Commenting on the appointment, British Triathlon’s president Ian Howard said that Buckner’s unique set of credentials will “help him lead our dynamic and highly aspirational sport to Rio and beyond.”
