Kona 2014: “I’m leaving nothing in the tank,” says Dan Halksworth
We chat to the Jersey native ahead of tomorrow's Ironman World Championship
With just one day to go now until this year’s Ironman World Championship, we grab some time with one of the British male pros on the starting line – Jersey’s Dan Halksworth.
A former Commonwealth swimming champ and two-time winner of Ironman UK, Dan is definitely one to watch tomorrow…
How are you feeling ahead of race day?
I’m really looking forward to racing. This is the last one of the season for me so I’m going out and leaving nothing left in the tank.
What have the last few weeks been like for you?
I’ve trained pretty hard since Ironman 70.3 Mont Tremblant and put in some really good sessions so I think I’m in good shape. Hopefully I’m ready for the weather as well.
What changes has coach Steve Benton made to your preparations?
We’ve really focused on some bigger bike work and some long tempo runs which I’m hoping will help me during the latter stages of the race.
