Jonathan Ross set to race Ironman 70.3 Staffs

With middle distance tri just five months away, TV chatshow host says he’s ready to go

Jonathan Ross joins Team Ramsay at Ironman 70.3 Staffs

If you’re looking forward to lining up against Gordon Ramsay at the first Ironman 70.3 Staffs this June, here’s some good news – fellow TV celeb Jonathan Ross has joined his GR100 squad.

Asked on Twitter whether he’s ready for the half-iron distance race, Ross said: “I’m not going to train! I’m ready.”

… to which Ramsay replied:

After missing out on Kona last year due to injury, Ramsay is aiming for the first 70.3 Staffs in a big way, and is putting together a squad of athletes that will be racing to raise money for the Gordon Ramsay Foundation.

They’re not the only TV presenters racing in Staffs this summer, with Sky Sports News journo Charlie Webster also expected:

Back in 2009 Ross was challenged on-air by F1 driver Jenson Button to take part in the London Triathlon (watch the video here) – but didn’t go through with it.

A few years later, Ramsay appeared on the Jonathan Ross Show and challenged fellow chef Jamie Oliver to complete an Ironman, offering him a Michelin star if he managed it:

The first Ironman 70.3 Staffs will be held on 14th June at the historic Shugsborough country estate, and promises a very fast and flat course.
