Italy to host ITU winter tri champs

Cogne chosen for 2nd year running

Winter triathlon championships

The north Italian city of Cogne has been picked by the ITU to host the Winter Triathlon World Championships for the second year running next February.

The event will take place on 15-16 February and likely involve a three-lap 6km run, a three-lap 12km mountain bike route on snow, then a three-lap 9km ski course.

“After such a successful event last year, it was a natural choice of us to return the championships to Cogne,” said ITU President Marisol Casado.

“Cogne is an ideal location with its open terrain and winter weather conditions perfect for winter triathlon.”

In addition to elite and U23 races, there will also be shorter races for junior, paratriathlon and age-group athletes, along with a mixed team relay.

This year’s elite races were won by Helena Erbenova (CZE) and Pavel Andreev (RUS) – full details and highlights here.
