Ironman UK deadline looming

Entries for this July's event close on 8 April

Ironman UK has announced that they’ll close race entries on 8th April. With entries already surpassing last year’s total, athletes only have a few days left to secure the remaining places in the 2011 event.

Taking place in and around Bolton on 31 July, Ironman UK comprises the following challenging course: 2.4-mile swim in Pennington Flash; 112-mile bike course through the Lancashire countryside; finish off with the marathon that takes athletes into Bolton town centre.

Kevin Stewart, Managing Director of Ironman UK, said: “ One of the changes we are making for 2011 is to create a lapped run course within Bolton which will provide a better atmosphere for both athletes and the thousands of spectators who will cheer them on.”

Many athletes combine the challenge of Ironman UK 2011 with raising money for good causes, and the two official charities Rotary and Scope can still provide access to places in return for raising money on their behalf.

If you are not racing this year but still want to be part of the Ironman experience, why not become part of the race crew? More details can be found at www.ironmanuk.com
