Gossage for the Gauntlet

Three-time Ironman champion joins strong elite women’s race at Cholmondeley Castle Tri

The double European duathlon champion and three-time Ironman champ (and next month’s cover star), Lucy Gossage, is the latest elite to declare her intention to take on the Cholmondeley Castle Triathlon this Sunday 29 June.

Gossage will be tackling the Gauntlet half-iron distance race, covering a stunning course over a 1.9km swim 90km bike ride and 21km run, which starts and finishes at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire. Having taken the top podium spot at Ironman UK, Ironman Wales and Ironman Lanzarote in the last 12 months, Lucy Gossage will no doubt be the one to watch at Cholmondeley Castle Triathlon.

Whilst Lucy has perhaps the most decorated CV amongst the starters this weekend, she won’t have it all her own way with plenty of other talent on the start list. Also in the mix will be fellow elites Cat Jameson who is returning from a very successful U.S tour, Georgie Rutherford, first year pro Eleanor Haresign. India Lee will be injecting some pace into the race while Carol Bridge is another big name on the start list, but may have other things on her mind given her recent selection by Team Wales for the Commonwealth Games.

The men’s race will be no less competitive, with Joe Skipper, Joel Jameson, Outlaw Half winner Paul Hawkins, Ross MacDonald and Sam Wade set to contest the title also.

Last minute entries are still open for all the races until Thursday evening at the Cholmondeley Castle Triathlon online: http://www.castletriathlonseries.co.uk/the-series/cholmondeley-castle
