Freddy van Lierde confirmed for Extreme Man Düren

"An easy decision", says 2013 Ironman World Champ

Belgian pro Frederik van Lierde, winner of this year’s Ironman World Championship, has confirmed he will race at the first Extreme Man Düren, taking place in Germany on 1 June of next year.

“I competed in races of the Extreme Man series in Narbonne in November 2012 and in Salou in May 2012,” said van Lierde. “They were fantastic events with a top organisation. That’s why the decision to take part in Düren was very easy for me.”

The races of the Extreme Man series are all held over the half-iron distance (1.9km swimming/90km cycling/21.1km running).

Next year’s calendar runs as follows:

11 May: Salou, Portugal
1 June: Düren, Germany
6 July: Getxo, Basque Country, Spain
7 September: Narbonne, France
21 September: Menorca, Spain
