France’s Pierre Le Corre wins U23 Men’s World Championship

No Brits in top ten

The men’s U23 World Championship race was contestes by a wide mix of nationalities in London this afternoon (12 September), with France’s Pierre Le Corre eventually overcoming his rivals in 1:42:47.

British hope Tom Bishop finished 31st in a time of 1:46:17, after doggedly staying in the main chase group throughout the bike leg.

However, the lead built up by a front running pack which included Fernando Alarza (ESP) and Declan Wilson (AUS) proved too great.

Alarza outran Wilson for silver, passing the post in 1:42:51, while Wilson notched up his best ITU performance to date to claim bronze with a time of 1:42:55 – in only his third competitive Olympic distance triathlon race.
