First look: Power2max Type S power meter

New power meter shaves up to 80g from previous models

A new power meter has been unveiled by Germany’s Power2max, adding a meagre 122 grammes of extra weight to a bike’s existing crankset.

The new Type S features a hidden slot-in battery compartment to provide full compatibility with aero rings and create an ultra-low profile.

Other features include high readout accuracy (within 2%), an external status LED, and ANT+ protocol for maximum compatibility.

Pricing will be €940 in Europe and $1,169 in North America, with orders being taken from October for delivery in early February 2014.
