Final Team England triathletes announced for 2022 Commonwealth Games
Sian Rainsley, Sam Dickinson and Iain Dawson complete the Team England line-up for the Birmingham Games
The final line-up for Team England’s Commonwealth Games’ triathletes has been announced today, with Sian Rainsley and Sam Dickinson joining Alex Yee, Jonathan Brownlee, Sophie Coldwell and Georgia Taylor-Brown.
The team of six will take part in the individual competitions on 29 July over a sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) in Sutton Park, Birmingham.
Dickinson made his mark at the Montreal WTCS event in June, where he formed one-quarter of the mixed relay team that won silver and booked their 2o24 Paris Olympic slot.
While many might have expected to see Tokyo gold medallist Jess Learmonth’s name in the line-up, the swim supremo is sadly out of action due to a hip injury.
Rainsley, meanwhile, has been steadily working her way up the World Series rankings, with a career best of 5th at last year’s Hamburg WTCS event. The Commonwealths will be a great showcase for this rising GB talent.

She made history last time out, becoming the first Team Scotland athlete to compete across two sports in the same Games, running the 10,000m in athletics after completing the triathlon individual event and team relay.
Sheldon, alongside Tom Bishop, was drafted in to replace the injured Yee and Brownlee at last month’s Leeds WTCS mixed relay event. He will be competing in his third Games, while Main and Green will make their debuts after European Cup podiums helped secure their selection.
Rio Paralympic silver medallist Peasgood is also making her Commonwealth debut and will be guided by either Brooke Gilles or Hazel Macleod.
