Challenge Penticton adds Half
New shorter distance triathlon for Canada in 2014
The organisers of Canadian long-distance triathlon Challenge Penticton have added a new half distance race to next year’s event, taking place on 24 August in British Colombia.
The Challenge Penticton Half will run on the same day as the long-distance race and within the same single loop course, but will be capped at 600 athletes, compared to the 1,500 expected for the full Iron-distance event.
“Penticton set the bar for long-course triathlon in Canada and the United States, and we’re thrilled to roll out a half distance triathlon in 2014 so a whole new group of athletes can take the Challenge,” said Paulette Rennie, Challenge Penticton President.
The Challenge Family series currently features 22 events around the world, including Challenge Roth in Germany, which attracts 3,500 entrants each year, and Challenge Henley in the UK.
Registration for both the full distance and the half distance races is now open at www.challengepenticton.com.
