No fewer than three Aussie world champion triathletes will be appearing at the first Challenge Laguna Phuket race in Thailand next month.

Pete Jacobs, Chris McCormack and Melissa Hauschildt are all confirmed for the event, which takes place on 1 December on Phuket island off the south coast of Thailand.

The course unusually involves a split swim, with competitors covering 1.28km in the sea then sprinting 100m across the beach to a freshwater lagoon, where they will swim the last 620m to reach T1.

This will be followed by a 90km bike over two coastal loops, then finishing with a flat 21km run course through the Laguna Phuket resort complex.

The race will mark the conclusion of the 10-day Challenge Tri-Fest, which featured the 20th annual Laguna Phuket Triathlon last Sunday (24 November).
