Challenge have launched their first half distance race in the US, which will be called Challenge Rancho Cordova and held on October 5, 2014.

The swim will take place at the Nimbus Dam, just outside Sacramento, and with the waters there fed by the Sierra Nevada Mountains it’s known as one of the cleanest bodies of water in the Sunshine State. The bike is a point-to-point trip through Gold Rush country with a total elevation gain of 1200ft, and the run course will be held on trails and streets, finishing in downtown Rancho Cordova.

Located 12miles east of Sacramento, the state capitol, Rancho Cordova and the surrounding area have a history steeped in the Gold Rush, including the first 12miles of railway ever built in California.

Challenge Rancho Cordova is the 24th race on a Challenge calendar. For more information on Challenge Rancho Cordova visit www.challenge-ranchocordova.com, or for more on the other races, go to www.challenge-family.com. You can follow them on twitter, too: @challengerancho.
