Camilla Pedersen recuperates at home
Danish triathlete allowed home as part of rehabilitation process
Camilla Pedersen was allowed to leave hospital last weekend and return home for a few days under supervision, as she continues to make promising progress following a training ride crash on 2 September in her home town of Esbjerg, Denmark.
Doctors at Hammel Neuro Centre permitted the 2013 Ironman European Champion to spend a few days in her own home as part of the ongoing rehabilitation process, and she has already been for a walk at her local beach (pictured above).
Pedersen, 30, is reported to be making major progress and can now walk unsupported, make her own lunch and even pedal a little on her home trainer. She spent 19 days in an induced coma last month.
“Camilla is overwhelmed that so many have shared their concern for her fight of her life and follow her rehabilitation,” said her friend Janni Moeller Thomsen. “It makes her very happy and as soon as she feels ready for it, she will post a greeting, I can promise that!”
Thomson added that at this stage people are asked not to contact Pedersen directly as she continues her rehabilitation, but rather to use a Facebook group (here) to send her greetings.
