Zinn & The Art Of Road Bike Maintenance

If ever there was a classic text on bike maintenance, this has to be it. And, with this latest edition including SRAM Red, Shimano electric and Campag 11 speed, it’s certainly right up to date.

The joy of this third edition, like its predecessors, is that it goes from super simple tasks – such as removing a rear wheel, puncture repair and cleaning – right through to complete re-builds. It tells you what tools you’ll need, highlights common mistakes and even includes some emergency ‘get you home’ tricks. All are explained by a combination of Zinn’s unique humour-filled, insightful and clear text, with Todd Telander’s brilliant illustrations.

It might lack some of the step-by-step diagrams of other repair manuals but the instructions are clear enough to follow. If nothing else, the comprehensive torque table at the back might save you a shattered carbon seat-tube or handlebars!
