TYR Tracer Short John

This women’s tri-suit from swimwear experts TYR features compression
panels to balance surface pressure and boost blood flow, as well as increase muscle fibre activity while reducing muscle vibrations. TYR also say the fabric has “calenderisation” properties, that allow it to warm the muscles quickly, and wicking effects to avoid overheating. But the real selling point is the Teflon-coated fabric, which makes it move faster through the water.

All this is great news, but sadly it doesn’t make up for the simple yet painful fact that this suit chafed. The QuikWik™ antimicrobial padding in the shorts was rough and uncomfortable on the bike and run, and didn’t improve with a (hand) wash and subsequent test. Sorry TYR, but for £140 we want comfort not calenderisation. Also check the sizes, as they tend to be on the small side.
