Saucony Elite

Traditionally a runner’s brand, ?Saucony has spread its wings and moved into the tri market. The Elite suit is its female-specific tri-suit, which is new in name but not in construction, as it’s simply the renamed Athena tri-suit.

Like the Athena, the first thing you notice is the overly large size. On the plus side, this makes it very flexible; easy to get into; comfortable; and allows greater freedom of movement during the swim. Sadly, these positives are drowned by the equally large pockets, which provide unnecessary amounts of drag in a non-wetsuit swim.

The fabrics are thick enough to minimise modesty issues, without being too absorbent and heavy, and the extra details like the leg gripper and chamois ?pad both work well and are comfortable throughout all three disciplines. Visually, though, we found the suit a little uninspiring.

In summary, the generous sizing and features of this suit are more appropriate for longer distances or for those more interested in comfort than a PB.
