Santini FS770 GTR ROLL

There’s no doubting Santini’s cycling heritage, but it’s questionable whether all of this DNA should make its way into their tri line. The bike specificity in this suit is notable, with an excellent ride performance similar to any set of bibs… but it’s this bib-like feel that causes concern.

Both during the run and in the pool, the shape of the suit becomes uncomfortable in any glide or upright position, as tension is applied right across the nether regions. All’s not lost, though, as on the plus side the FS770 sports a very substantial chamois, made from a superbly comfortable and pleasantly cooling gel material.

When our privates weren’t on the verge of tourniquet, we appreciated the featherweight qualities of the construction. The sublimated graphics are striking, too, and the fabric has a robust feel that inspires confidence. There’s also an excellent zip finish, but it’s finished off with an impractical pair of pockets that fill with water, creating unwanted drag.
