The Great Vegan Protein Book review

New tome from Celine Steen and Tamasin Noyes comes packed with protein-rich recipes

Creating tasty protein-rich meals and snacks for vegetarians and (especially) vegans can be a challenge.

Enter The Great Vegan Protein Book, with nutritional information on obtaining protein from a vegan diet and, more importantly, how to prepare dozens of tasty and healthy recipes.

>>> Five foods to boost your protein intake

Although there are some technical inaccuracies (for example, the claim that athletes need no more than 0.8g of protein per kilo per day), there’s no disputing that this book is well-written overall.

What’s more, it contains a large number of delicious-looking, protein-rich snack and meal recipes that will have even hardened carnivores salivating.

Most of the recipes are straightforward to prepare, but many contain a large number of ingredients, some of which are quite exotic and unavailable at even the biggest supermarkets.

The index is complicated too: some recipes are listed by ingredient (e.g. mushrooms), but others are not (e.g. chickpeas).
