Nilox Foolish

Well-priced, impressive picture quality and comes with lots of accessories in the box...

Coming in at just under £200, the slightly oddly-named Foolish provides a lot of bang for your buck. There’s a variety of mounts, an attachable LCD screen and two waterproof cases all as standard.

The camera itself can shoot in full HD, up to 1,080p, although you’ll need to check the frame rate because that’s the feature that allows for smooth action filming. So while you can do 1,080p at 30 frames per second (FPS), it’s better to go for 720p at 60FPS if you want a smooth video.

The picture quality is clear and even at night the Foolish performed efficiently. It also comes with a laser pointer that allows you to line up your shot, although it was difficult to figure out how to switch it off. It’s also an 8MP (megapixels) camera capable of taking shots in bursts, the only downside being the battery life of up to 2:30hrs – distinctly average.

Mount-wise, it’s compatible with many of the GoPro mounts (Nilox’s own range will be available soon) but given the shape, we used it on our bars rather than on a helmet.
