Vibram Fivefingers Speed

Weird design aside, running in these shoes was a revelation.

They gave us the confidence to do barefoot drills and from work without worrying about dog poo and broken glass. The new Speeds, in an odd retro way, look kind of cool but do they still perform?

The sole offers a bit more protection, and, although this may upset the purists, does increase the range of terrain you can run on. The grip is much better and wet grass downhills are no longer a liability. The lace, as well as looking more normal, give a more comfortable, adjustable and secure fit.

They also make for blissfully comfortable recovery footwear but, for such a minimalist creation, that £100 price point does seem excessive.
