Puma Faas 500

This fantastically stylish, stand out shoe harps back to the classic Puma RS1. Thankfully it backs up the style with plenty of substance; there’s no real performance compromise, as both the comfort and speed boxes have been ticked.

Faas actually means ‘fast’ in Jamaican – a country that knows a thing or two about fast running – and it more than lives up to its name, providing a genuinely silky, smooth ride.

The cushioning system is remarkably familiar to Nike’s Lunar range, though the design promotes a snappier lift-off not too dissimilar to Newtons (shoes that promote mid/forefoot running) but without the compromise on connective tissue comfort. Indeed the fit is pleasant thanks in large part to the laces, which provide a welcome amount of stretch that eliminates pinching.

The only slight worry is the lack of a heel counter, which might be the deal breaker for those looking for an everyday workhorse.
