Nike Air Zoom Elite 7 run shoes

There’s nothing like setting yourself high standards, and with a name that includes both the words ‘zoom’ and ‘elite’ our expectations were high.

Changes to this seventh incarnation include a slash in weight (our women’s UK6 weighed in at 238g), a more streamlined design and the use of Nike’s Zoom Air material in the forefoot.

The fit was excellent, with the lightweight mesh upper, featuring Nike’s Flywire technology, making for a fit that felt snug, yet with plenty of room in the toebox.

The asymmetric laces kept the foot secure, but without any annoying pinching. These shoes are developed with tempo runs in mind and the 8mm offset definitely encouraged midfoot running, with the shoes living up to their promise of a fast, responsive ride.

That said, on longer runs our footstrike became a bit heavy, slapping the ground somewhat. As this shoe is aimed at short, fast efforts, though, that won’t be a problem.
