Newton Gravity

2009 winners of the 220 Award for Innovative Product of the Year, Newton Shoes are taking the world of triathlon by storm.

Basically, their shoes encourage you to run up on your toes, working to the theory that runners who do so run more quickly. Of course, such bold thinking creates plenty of argument, but the bottom line is that in tests these shoes do perform.

Yes, they take a little getting used to, but for shorter runs they produce results. These shoes are narrow but that’s probably because your foot is being placed in a different position rather than anything cosmetic. Our testers loved them – to a point. You see, unless you’re Newton-wearing Kona King Craig Alexander, we can’t imagine anyone running long, long distances in them.
