New Balance 1062

It may sound obvious to say that a neutral shoe is all about cushioning, but the 1062 focuses mainly on this, and not on any of the foot-steering features that you’ll find on other shoes at the same price point.

Not surprisingly, both the heel and forefoot are well padded, so if your main concern is a cushioned ride these will suit you down to the ground. But while the ride of the 1062 is relatively smooth, it’s not as responsive as it could be.

Of course, this isn’t a problem if you have no biomechanical issues and just want to bang out the miles. And it must be said that the shoe does work well, with enough flexibility in the forefoot to give a comfortable toe-off.
