Brooks Glycerin 7

This is a very cushioned shoe – ‘plush’ is the word Brooks use – so it was no surprise to find it was a pleasure to run in from the first wear. And even better was the fact that the quicker you run, the better they perform.

But note: these are for lighter runners looking for speed. The cushioning and assured balance would best suit runners with a running gait that doesn’t require any assistance in terms of support (neutral runners rather than heavy pronators). If you have only mild over-pronation issues, though, they feel quite stable.

There are many lighter run shoes on the market, but such is the comfort and response that they provide the feel of a pacey shoe with plenty of cushioning. In short, they’re the kind of shoe to reach for if you want to start upping the tempo.
