Asics Fuji Lite 3 review

Looking for a lighter trail running shoe with a low stack height and responsive ride? We test the Asics Fuji lite 3 to see if it's the answer...

While we’re not massive fans of how the Asics Fuji Lite 3 looks, there is much to like here.

Asics Fuji Lite 3 review

The shoe is among the lightest in our recent trail shoe group test (300g, UK11) and delivered a really smooth ride, with some soft cushioning underfoot and around the ankle offering comfort in droves.

While this means it’s not one of the most responsive or quickest shoes on test, it’s not a complete slouch and there was a solid amount of propulsion on offer, though not to the same level of a carbon shoe like the Saucony Endorphin Edge.

The grip on offer from the outsole is versatile, too, and proved at home on both short stints of road and trail, only coming unstuck on particularly muddy trails.

It features a lower stack than some others on test and comes with a 4mm drop, all of which helped deliver a stable running experience with a decent amount of ground feel.

There’s not as much toe protection at the front as you get with other shoes, and the laces felt a little on the short side, but otherwise this is a good day-to-day trail shoe.

We also found the loops on the top of the heel and the tongue particularly helpful when trying to pull these shoes off and on in a hurry, while the latter is also useful for popping your laces out of the way.

Plus, Asics says 50% of the shoe’s main upper is made with recycled materials and that other steps have also been taken to reduce water usage and carbon emissions.

Verdict: There’s a lot to like about these; good all-rounders

Score: 82%

Boot Bananas Shoe Deodoriser

The more we run in our trail shoes, the greater the pong can become – particularly if they’re getting wet and dirty a lot of the time.

But there are a few things you can do to try and fend off foul smells and one of them is to try out a shoe deodoriser like these Boot Bananas.

They’re designed to neutralise extreme odour and remove smells, replacing them with the scent of lavender, lemon, patchouli and tea tree.

The brand says they’re made with high-quality essential oils that have antimicrobial properties, while the outer is said to be biodegradable.
