Adidas Adizero Adios Boost

Light, fast and will boost performance over several distances

The Adizero Adios Boosts are lightweight race shoes aimed at distance runners. They’ve got a proven race pedigree, being worn by the first- and second-placed runners in the 2013 Tokyo Marathon.

But are they of interest to triathletes? They’re certainly impressively light at 237g for a UK 10.5, and whether or not you buy the bouncy Boost balls marketing it certainly has plenty of fans.

They feel fast straight away, and despite a 10mm heel-to-toe drop aren’t inhibitive to a mid or forefoot strike. There’s decent flexibility in the sole, while the overall sensation, whether psychosomatic or not, is that the shoes are propelling you forwards.

The toe-box is reasonably wide, the lightweight mesh uppers and seam-free inners suit sock-free running and grip is excellent from the Continental rubber soles.

Although they don’t have heel loops, you can easily add elastic laces for a great pair of race shoes across a variety of distances.
