X-Bionic The Trick running shorts review

Work a treat thanks to ‘Thorny Devil’ technology, but could do with a drawstring

X-Bionic The Trick running pants review

X-Bionic garments are Swiss engineered and made in northern Italy, which may not be the most cost effective, but the emphasis is on quality, epitomised by X-Bionic’s mantra that ‘every fibre has a function’.

The Trick running pants are designed to distribute sweat away from sweat-intensive zones and redistribute to muscle areas that heat up quicker, using their patented ‘Thorny Devil’ technology.

In essence, it uses sweat to cool you down rather than wick it away. On a humid trail run they worked a treat, and they’re some of the most comfortable shorts we’ve ever worn.

You might expect a drawstring waist at this price point, and they slipped down occasionally despite looking like skintight boxer shorts, but X-Bionic tell us they’re meant to be worn as shorts.

Be warned, though, as they’re quite lunchbox-revealing! On the plus side, this might encourage you to run faster in public places…

Verdict: Cool and comfortable, but expensive and could do with a drawstring, 82%
