Adidas Supernova shorts

Staggeringly good pair of run shorts to wear in winter over tights

Run shorts – a simple garment that’s hard to get wrong. Or so you’d think. In the past we’ve tested shorts that are either too compressed, too revealing or feature an inner lining that’d double as a parachute.

Not here. This is a fantastic pair of run shorts. Key to its success is Adidas’ ForMotion design. The concept’s been around for about nine years, but has evolved and now simply refers to a “sculpted cut for greater movement”.

Over runs ranging from 400m intervals to a nine-mile loop at around 75% HRmax, they felt like you were running au naturel, such was their tactility. That sense of freedom is heightened by the breathability offered by Adidas’s trademark Climacool ventilation.

Reflective details will see you through autumn and winter, though supplement with a pair of three-quarter tights when temperatures drop. A zip pocket on the rear right hip for a key and a fiver completes an impressive pair of run shorts.
