Northwave Devil

A respected cycling brand, smoked and clear lenses, hard carrying case and soft pouch, all for well under £40? There has to be a catch. Well, even if the bright blue colour we had on test isn’t to your taste, there are more understated white and black frame options available, so you should be able to find a model to suit. The black frame in particular looks great and doesn’t look cheap up against far more expensive glasses.

Out running and riding, the Devils sat well on our tester’s face and, with silicon grippers on the key contact points, refused to be budged even by the most aggressive off-road antics.

Field of vision was good and the amount of frame creeping into view when down low on the aerobars was well inside acceptable limits. The only downside, which unfortunately is a deal breaker, is the lack of light-enhancing lenses, which are an essential add-on for UK riding.
