Orca celebrate 30th anniversary with limited edition Apex 30 wetsuit

Hitting a major milestone this year, Orca celebrates its 30th anniversary with the launch of the limited edition Apex 30 which brings together three decades of experience and innovation

Hitting a major milestone this year, Orca celebrates its 30th anniversary with the launch of the limited edition Apex 30, a suit that brings together three decades of wetsuit experience and technology into an exclusive package.

The design of this wetsuit is based on the experience and knowledge that Orca has gained over the past 30 years, as well as the groundbreaking technologies the brand has developed, launched, and refined during this time. The limited edition Apex 30 brings together the most revolutionary aspects of the brand’s history: the extreme flexibility of the Alpha, the legendary buoyancy of the 3.8, and the absolute comfort and wide range of motion of the Predator.

It’s the most advanced, the most elastic, the best-fitting and the fastest wetsuit on the market. It’s a unique, limited edition wetsuit, designed to cover the needs of all kinds of triathletes. It’s an exclusive suit for those dedicated to improving their performance even further — aiming for epic results at every race and every training session.

Forward-thinking technology

This suit’s design is based on the experience and knowledge accumulated over Orca’s 30 years of history and on the breakthrough technologies that the brand has developed, launched into the market and improved during this time – Orca’s evolution and technical advancements are combined in this limited edition of the Apex 30. In addition, it’s important to mention that Orca continues to use the most advanced materials on the market, which is why this revolutionary suit is made with Yamamoto neoprene, offering unparalleled elasticity, maximum lightness and minimum water absorption.

Stokes without restriction

Orca’s suits have always used the most advanced Yamamoto materials, including Yamamoto 44, the most elastic of them all, used exclusively by Orca. Orca’s wetsuits have stood out historically owing to their exceptional elasticity, lightness and freedom of movement provided with every stroke. On top of this, even though Orca’s iconic models including Alpha, Predator and Apex Flow use 0.88 Free technology in the arms, the new Apex 30 takes this innovation a step further.

The new Apex 30 incorporates Advanced 0.88 Free technology, which not only uses 0.88 Free technology in the arms but also in the shoulders and armpits, providing you with unprecedented freedom in every stroke. This, combined with the advanced Dynamic Shoulder Fit patterning, means the suit’s freedom of movement with every stroke is the most advanced in the market.

The fastest suit

In the search for a faster suit, trying to reduce the coefficient of friction between the suit and the water has always been a key factor. In 2012, Orca launched the triathlon wetsuits Alpha, 3.8 and Predator, at the same time they introduced the SCS surface treatment to the market, which reduced friction with the water by 60%. This marked a turning point for competition wetsuits.

Although it seemed impossible to improve on the benefits offered by SCS treatment, after several years of work, the Apex range was launched along with Nano Ice SCS technology, which reduces friction with the water 8% more than the SCS surface treatment. And of course, the Apex 30 incorporates Nano Ice SCS surface treatment, making it the fastest suit on the market.

Perfecting buoyancy

A good position in the water improves hydrodynamics, helping the triathlete to save seconds in the swim stage. Since 2012, when Orca revolutionised the market with the first Aerodome panels in the 3.8 model, the brand has been working on perfecting its buoyancy technology. These refinements allowed for the incorporation of panels with Exo-Lift technology, offering 10% more buoyancy than the Aerodome panels, to be incorporated into the lower half of the Apex Flow and Apex Float models.

All this knowledge and innovation come together in the Apex 30, offering an optimised buoyancy profile thanks to its carefully designed and positioned panels with Exo-Lift technology. These strategically positioned panels located in the legs, abdominal and chest areas are designed to take the athlete’s performance to the next level, giving them the confidence and speed they need to stand out in the water.

This technology offers advanced core stabilization thanks to the strategically placed Exo-Lift panels in the lower back. The panels do not alter the athlete’s kicking technique.

Optimising posture

The ability to maintain the correct posture when swimming is key to maximising your stroke performance. Orca has led the advancements of posture correction thanks to CLS (Core Lateral Stabilizer) since 2017 with the incorporation of this technology in the 3.8 and Predator models. Today, the Apex 30 raises the bar with the innovative CLS+ technology, which offers an even more advanced core stabilisation than Orca’s previous top of the range
models.

Flexibility and buoyancy combine to create the perfect swim. The Orca Apex 30 worn here by Hayden Wilde.

This is achieved thanks to strategically positioned Exo-Lift panels in the lower back area. The Apex 30 doesn’t just improve buoyancy, but it provides extra stability that perfects posture and optimises every second in the water.

Faster transitions

In the triathlon wetsuit range launched in 2015, a game-changing technology called Hydrolite was used, which has also been incorporated into this limited edition Apex 30. The panels using this technology provide an internal structure as well as hydrophobic properties that slide easily on contact with the skin. This is why the use of Hydrolite technology in the lower half of the legs allows you to take your wetsuit off more quickly, helping you steal
seconds during the first transition of the triathlon.

So, in conclusion? With the launch of the Apex 30, Orca reinforces its position of leadership in innovation, offering the most technologically advanced wetsuit on the market, designed for those who strive for performance and excellence in every stroke.
