Isostar Recovery review

The Isostar recovery drink is one of the more basic concoctions on the shelves, based upon the classic milk powder ‘home brew’. It contains a relatively low 183kcal for 250ml serving and also has quite low carbohydrate and protein content at 34.7g and 9.8g, respectively.

The recommended 250ml does is fairly small, but like most recovery drinks, you’re probably going to need to consume extra fluids anyway to make up for those lost. At the recommended mix, the carbohydrate concentration is just 14%, but will suit those with more sensitive digestive systems.

Sodium is present within the Isostar but is dosed relatively low at 160mg, alongside a small amount of magnesium (60mg) to assist electrolyte replenishment. There’s also a small collection of vitamins to top it off (B1, B2, B3, B6, C, E).

Taste-wise, it’s a basic but palatable chocolate milk that’s easy to drink, mixes well and isn’t too sweet.
