Halfords Advanced Rear Mount
Key to a bike rack’s success is flexibility, ease of set-up and stability. And the Halfords Advanced Rear High Mount 3 Cycle Carrier scores well in all three.
Flexibility’s down to the number of cars it fits: hatchbacks, estates, saloons… Its chameleonic characteristics stem from a plethora of rack frame settings and four sizes of metal arms, which you choose to suit your vehicle.
It’s then down to set-up. This took only an hour first time round, which in our books is good. Subsequent fittings took less than 5mins.
As for stability we clamped on a mix of road and children’s bikes, and it felt secure. Credit here goes to those metal arms, which felt sturdier than traditional nylon affairs. Nylon straps were used for extra support, though we’d add bungee straps for greater piece of mind.
