Giro Transfer

You’ve got to admire the guts of Giro, not only putting forward very expensive helmets, but also offering very cheap options too.

When considering the features you’ve got to remember that the Transfer is less then half the price of the next cheapest we tested. Padding is on the sparse side but the dial cradle adjustment isn’t bad and, once on our head, it was by no means the least comfortable. The straps, as you’d expect, are basic nylon but it manages to weigh in at a trim 260g and even has some anti-insect mesh on three of the front vents.

You have to wonder, though, how the bees and wasps avoid the other seven intake vents. The 20 vents do a good job of cooling and, although a bit on the bulky side, the styling certainly doesn’t look at all cheap.
