Casco Speed Airo

Solid brand credentials, comfortable and super cool aero option

Coming from German track cycling helmet supremos Casco, the Speed Airo is a new contender in the growing aero road helmet market, which already includes the Kask Vertigo Tri, Giro Air Attack and Specialized S-Works Evade.

With Casco’s track background (where aerodynamics are key), you can be fairly confident of the aero claims and R&D that have gone into this helmet.

While it looks a bit bulky, you wouldn’t feel too self-conscious training in it. At 344g it’s certainly heavier than the competition, and although competitively priced you’ll need to fork out an additional £49.99 for the flip-up visor.

Once on, though, it’s very comfortable, with an excellent, highly-adjustable cradle system. The combination of internal mesh and webbing keep the helmet off your head, allowing for brilliant airflow and making for a wonderfully cool ride. The chin strap also has a transition-friendly quick release.
