Bell Volt

The heaviest helmet on test at 315g, the styling of the Volt is in your face and verging on garish. Fortunately Bell offer different colour and design schemes from our sample. The padding, although removable for washing, is meagre and on the thin side.

The cradle is average, offering vertical and horizontal adjustment but does feel a bit flimsy. In terms of comfort, you could never genuinely forget you were wearing it and the dial adjuster is somewhat vague. The supplied removable visor is handy if you like to indulge in a bit of the rough stuff but, when compared to the Kask and Giro top-ends on test, the Volt just doesn’t cut it.

It’s not a bad helmet and is £20 cheaper than the Giro Ionos but, if you’re willing to fork out this much cash, you just expect a bit more.
