Selle Italia SLR T1

The Selle Italia SLR T1 saddle is a triathlon/time-trial specific model from one of the most established names in bicycle seating. It features more gel padding than a traditional road saddle, especially on the nose, to accommodate time spent perching on the tri-bars.

The covering material is a glossy black Lorica fabric designed to be waterproof, abrasion resistant and durable. It also looks like it might be made of the same stuff as Darth Vader’s helmet but we can’t be sure.

Comfort factor is great – firm but not hard – and at just over 200g it’s very light for such a well-padded seat. The Vanox rails are marked with a scale to make precise adjustments in positioning a doddle, and generally quality of the finish is good.

All in all, the SLR T1 is a very competent product, if you can live with the shiny appearance, which is available in a choice of black or white.
