Silva X-Trail

?Silva has a fantastic headlamp pedigree, and there’s no doubt that the X-Trail is a top-performing and versatile product. The beam it produces strikes a perfect balance between flood and spot, is the best on test and easily copes with full-on, off-road adventures.

The massive rubberised button makes operation easy, even with gloves on. At full whack you’ll get 5.5 hours of burn from the four AA batteries (and up to 30 hours with a more economical beam), so you’ll get a good few outings before having to change or charge the batteries. With a remote battery pack that you wear around your waist or put in a pack, the head unit weighs in at a very run-friendly 80g.

You also get helmet and handlebar mounts, as well as a strap for attaching the battery pack to your frame, meaning you also get a great bike light into the deal.
