Light & Motion Urban Anchor 800 & Vis 180 bike lights review

Straight off, the rear Vis 180 is a great bike light. Designed to give 180° worth of visibility, it has LEDs on the top, the front and two on either side. The two side LEDs shine amber and give possibly the best coverage of any rear light we’ve tested recently.

It gives out a decent 70 lumens at full power, which will give you 4hrs of battery life, or up to 12hrs on low pulse. But the one thing we found rather irritating is the ratcheting mount; the way it fastens means you can only really attach the light to a seatpost.

The Urban 800 at the front is a small and sleek unit, featuring four light modes: high, medium, low and pulsing. The 800 lumens on max is impressive, but you’ll only get 90mins.

Mounting is simpler thanks to an integrated rubber strap and, similar to the Vis 180, there are two amber lights on the side. Yet despite the undoubted beam quality, we feel the modes are a little lacking for the high price.

Verdict: Some nice features, but the price isn’t justified compared with others we’ve tested recently, 75%
