Support for coaches
Speaking on the announcement, British Triathlon’s Head of Coaching, Michelle Hayden, said: “Swim Smooth have been supporting triathletes in Britain and globally for many years and we’re really excited to bring them on board as a partner.
“At British Triathlon we want our coaches to be equipped to develop themselves and the athletes they coach. To be able to provide bespoke Swim Smooth content to our coach members will be a great benefit for them in delivering high-quality swimming coaching and giving them the confidence to do so.”
Paul Newsome responded: “It is a real honour to continue working with British Triathlon. We first started work together in 2009, off the basis of a series of DVDs I produced to increase access to quality triathlon-swim specific coaching information for all.
“I have a huge passion for sharing coach education and ensuring that all coaches have the resources available to them to upskill and, in-turn, help bolster the sport from grassroots up to the elite. The current platforms available to us for the delivery of this education are really exciting indeed, especially for remote learning.
“The pandemic of the last two years has made for a hugely tough time for all coaches. It is my hope that through this partnership we can elevate not only the level of coach education in the UK going forwards but also the general sentiment and mood too.
“As the 1998 hit song Closing Time by Semisonic went: ‘Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.’ The opportunity for us all to rise again after the restrictions placed on our passion for coaching is limitless. I am thrilled to be collaborating and sharing with my peers for a governing body that I have the utmost respect for. Go GB!”
