Wahoo Systm App review
Is this the training app to answer your needs?
Wahoo’s rise to indoor domination continues apace with the SYSTM app, which launched at the end of September. Its depth of content is impressive and, typically Wahoo, it’s extremely usable.
The seeds of the SYSTM app were sown in 2019 when Wahoo acquired The Sufferfest, which started off as a series of interactive, real-life training videos before evolving into an app-based model that focused heavily on power-based sessions.
So The Sufferfest videos are at the heart of the cycling section. We’ve used them for years. They’re effective and fun, although some of the sessions are clearly dated. Cyclist Dan Martin in his Cannondale kit, for example, though that’s nitpicking – they’ll help you progress through the longer winter months.
But there are also fresh Wahoo sessions from the likes of top coach Neal Henderson. And, impressively, documentaries to pair with base and recovery sessions. Your app syncs with power meters, smart trainers, heart rate monitors and cadence sensors to monitor every conceivable metric.
But it’s not just about the cycling. There’s video training prescription for mental training, strength work and yoga, while you’re also given swim and run sessions to print off and follow.
A usable calendar charts past sessions and helps plan future efforts, while the personalised power profile helps you to uncover what rider type you are and what to work on. It links to apps like Strava and Training Peaks for sharing and analysis, too.
Pricing for the Systm training application is as follows: Annual Plan $129 / Year ; Monthly Plan $14.99 / Month. Try out the app for free at Wahoo.com.
Verdict: Incredibly rich and usable training app for all triathletes
