Santini FS770 GTR Pepe

Santini traditionally specialises in cycling apparel, but has been making in-roads into the tri market for the last couple of years. Available in three colours (black, red and azurro) its Pepe tri-suit is made from a sleek, lightweight fabric and features Santini’s renowned gel chamois pad.

To start on a negative, the medium we tested fitted up very small, which made it quite painful around the shoulders. Regardless, the suit still performed well in the water: pad absorption was adequate and the lightweight fabric dried quickly, although it did absorb slightly more water than expected.

But, understandably given Santini’s heritage, the bike is where the suit really comes into its own: the well-cut legs were very comfortable while the gel chamois was one of the comfiest we’ve ever tested. Ignoring the poor body-length fit, it was also very good on the run thanks to the narrow pad.
